Elaine has created a diet for us, and tomorrow we begin. I’m down with it, and it is totally necessary (I’m pushing 200), but, for the next two weeks I will have no starch, no sugar, and… no alcohol. Pray for me.

Here you go.

Isabella Rossellini acting out the mating rituals of bugs.

This is possibly one of the best things I have ever seen on the internet.

You’re welcome.

It’s at Flickr.

My last attempt to jump start this blog was derailed by illness, then killed by all the same factors that necessitated the jump start in the first place – that is, a combination of being too busy in life and too bored with my blog to generate the required activation energy.

I’m sure I’ll come back, but in the meantime, go check out my Flickr page. I’m still updating that.

I dropped the ball on this already, but in my defense I am sick. Fever, chills, sore throat, headache, congestion, burning eyes, aches, etc. After a miserable day yesterday I even tried to take a lame pic of my medicines all lined up, and then when I tried to upload it my internet connection was down. So I’m taking a break. I’ll resume this challenge to myself in a day or two, whenever the fever breaks.

Thums Up soda, purchased with lunch at Curry in Hurry. It’s a cola, and I thought it had a hint of ginger, but Wikipedia says betel nut. I’ll have to take their word for it. It was good, as was the curry.

I haven’t been blogging or… flickr…er…ing much lately, so I’m setting a goal. At least one picture a day for the next 30 days, and an accompanying blog post about it/them. They may all suck, but dammit, I need a hobby. I’ll start tomorrow.

Today I am 38. 38 is pretty good.

I’m ok on the personal possession front, so if you’d like to buy me a present, you could make a donation here. Or here.

I’m off to enjoy my birthday now, the weather outside is beautiful.

I haven’t had a landline for 12 years, ever since I got a mobile phone. I still have the first mobile phone I owned and it is huge. The most recent phone is an iPhone, and it’s not only smaller, I’m also posting this blog entry from it. The point is that, for me, as soon as I got that giant brick of a phone 12 years ago, the landline was obsolete. There was nothing it could do for me that the monochromatic brick couldn’t. The reason I make this point is that, as of last Tuesday morning, when I walked into the Time Warner office and handed them my digital converter/DVR/feed-of-zoned-out-happiness box, we no longer have a television.

We do think we were spending a little too much time in front of it, but we aren’t some hippie Luddites that will now spend all of our new found free time making hemp jewlery, or whittling. We really love television in general, and quite a few shows specifically, and all of it is available somewhere else. If I can’t get it on iTunes, it’s on the network website, and if it’s not there I can Netflix it. If I really like it I’ll buy the DVD’s. I don’t think cable has anything to offer me anymore. We’ll see if I feel the same in a month or two.

And hopefully I’ll have good stuff to write about in a week or so. Until then…

Happy Holidays to all my far-flung friends and family.
