There's a bad joke in there somewhere about your wife being ok with your bag problem, but I don't feel up to it this morning.

Also, I like the way you think - the D300 it is. To my Lovely Wife, my Loving Parents, my Kind and Generous Brothers, and all my Witty and Terribly Attractive Friends - and anyone else who may feel inclined to get me a Christmas present this year - may I suggest cash? You will be relieved of the pressure to find the perfect gift, and I will be partly relieved of the $1800 price tag. Everyone is happy.

I've got the D200. I love the D200, possibly to an inappropriate extent. However, if I were purchasing again, I would seriously evaluate buying the D80 and spending my savings on more glass. And if the D300 were in the picture, I would definitely purchase either the D300 or the D80, not the D200. Love the 50 1.4, love the 18-200. I have the SB-800, but would probably buy the SB-600 instead, because most of the advantage seems to be in complicated multi-flash situations that I'm unlikely to set up.

Regarding the bag, I've found that I like my backpack-style Crumpler, or my Lowepro Toploader 70AW (depending on what I'm doing) better than my shoulder bag. But, you can never have too many bags. Ann is ok with my bag problem. Really. I swear.
